Here's a really quick, easy perpetual calendar project that will be great in your home, at work, or even as a gift item (if you can bear to part with it).
In less than an hour, you can have this hanging on your wall!

MPC Finished Project

Start with these:

Printed Tin Pin Calendar Page
Maya Road large tin bottle caps
Metal Tin Sheet for Wall
Tin Pin Month and Date Buttons
Maya Road zipper and Rosette trims
Magnets

MPC Calendar Page 2

MPC Galv Tin Sheet and Buttons 3

Here's a closer look at the Tin Pin Buttons we used on this project. These round buttons are flat back buttons, making it easy peasy for using on this project ..... they also make great embellishments for  other crafting projects like advent boxes, as knobs on altered projects and lots more.

MPC Calendar and Date Buttons   MPC Date Buttons

Simply apply the adhesive of your choice to the flat backs of the buttons and place on the calendar page. For a perpetual calendar, use magnets on the backs of the month and date buttons so you can just change the month button and re-arrange the dates every month.

What would be the fun without some bling added?!? Marianne made a couple of accents for our perpetual calendar with the Maya Road jumbo bottle cap tin, Maya Road flower bottle cap tin and some of their trims. Check these out ...

On this flower she used the large round bottle cap, and made a flower from the Maya Road zippers by the yard that we carry. She even used a second color of zipper for the flower center. Add a magnet to the back and add it to your calendar. Just think, it would be fun and easy to add a photo of someone in one of these bottle cap tins to commemorate a birthday boy or girl, or perhaps an anniversary .... oh my, lots of ideas that can be incorporated here!

MPC Lg Bottle Cap Flower 6

Here's a close-up of a smaller embellishment that Marianne did for the lower righthand corner of our calendar, this time with the Maya Road flower bottle cap. Pink Maya Road zipper and just a bit of green zipper for leaf accents to finish this one off. She added a tiny Maya Rose rosette as the center of this little flower creation. We have the rosettes, by the yard, in several colors - the great thing is that you can colorize the rosettes with spritz, spray, dyes, stains or inks - for "just" the look you want.

Have you had a chance to explore the possibilities with the Sizzix "Flip-it" dies?

Six different card dies in all, each creating a square card, complete with score fold lines and cutouts that
flip over for viewing from both sides of the card. There are additional dies that coordinate for easy accents on the cards.

As you'll see on the card samples we have for you, there are two score lines built into each die, making the cards easy to fold and filt into square envelopes. And we have some beautiful, shimmery soiree envelopes from Memory Box that you can use with these cards.

We suggest you use  the Sizzix Premium Crease Pad instead of the top clear cutting pad
for best results with the Flip-it dies.

FI Dies Grouping

How about some card ideas with these fun dies?
Gretchen and Lynne, two of our amazingly talented Design Team contributors,
have created some lovely cards to share with us.

The Heart Flip-it die is featured in this card; isn't it cute?!

FI Heart Card                  FI Heart Card Closeup

And upon closer look, you can see the wonderful accent stitching Gretchen added on the borders and on the heart itself. Little Yellow Bicycle "Lollipop Stripe with glitter" and Bo Bunny "Pink Punch Double Dot Flourish" papers were used on this card, along with a Just Rite stamp "Thank You" message on the heart.

This "Smile" card shows us the Square Flip-it die in use, but changed up a bit with the card opening "Top to Bottom" rather than side to side. Nice variation, don't you think?

FI Square Smile Card

We know that it can be a bit more challenging to create cards for the males in our lives, so it's time for a masculine card idea! This card uses the Diamond Flip-it card die, and Lynne used some Bo Bunny "Weekend Market" papers and Just Rite stamps on this card.

FI Diamond M BBP Card 1

Here's another look at Lynne's card, in the upright position!

FI Diamond M BBP Card Upright

Time for some circle fun now - with this elegant card featuring
Little Yellow Bicycle "Swoon" papers and cardstock sticker sentiments and embellishments.

FI Circle Card 1 with die

Here's a view at the "Flip Side" of this Circle Flip-it card ....

FI Circle Card Side 2

OK, you've now seen 4 of the 6 different Flip-it card dies, so let's see some more great card ideas
with the other 2 dies.

We can never get enough of flowers, so here we go with Lynne's Flower Flip-it card.

FI Flower Card with Die

Here's a closer look at Lynne's card and her use of the Maya Road zipper and a button for the flower center.
Bella Blvd papers, Just Rite "Just for You" message and teeny tiny flower embellishments add to the fun.

And how about this cute card from Sizzix with the Fancy Frame Flip-it card die?
Did you know, the Framelits nested fancy frames dies work great with this Flip-it card die, too!!

FI Fancy Frame card

Our final card in this parade of cards is another masculine card idea.

Gretchen used the Diamond Flip-it card die, in another sideways card presentation.
Love the use of HEARTS on this "guy" card .... it works!!
Reminisce "Compass" paper, Maya Road burlap trim, Just Rite stamped message and
some embellies for that added touch.

FI Diamond M Rem Card

Here's another view of this card so you can see the flip side ...

Surprise, another sentiment is revealed!

We hope we've gotten your creative juices flowing with ideas using these fun dies.

Altered Canvas Project & Tutorial Print E-mail

DTM SYS Canvas Complete

Mary, another of our talented Design Team quarterly contributors, created this altered canvas project,
featuring one of Tim Holtz's Idea-ology District Market printed canvases as her base.

Tim Holtz burlap covered frame canvases to create an altered art piece:

Distress the background image on the canvas using We R Memory Keepers hand-held, heart-shaped brown inkpad. They’re great to work with and leave very little indication of where you started or stopped.

                                        STM SYS Canvas Prep 412

Before decoupaging, have a general idea of your layout and materials and in what order they will have to be put on the canvas. Decoupage your “ephemera” images (I used a photo from an old McCall’s magazine plus some sheet music and old postage stamps). Use Royal Coat Decoupage Finish, Mod-Podge, or Aqua Pro sealing varnish. Use the decoupage as the glue for the back of the picture and go over it again when it’s on the canvas.

STM SYS Canvas Ephemera Pic3 412

Once images are decoupaged and dried, go over them a second time. Let dry after the second application….doesn’t take very long in Colorado.

                                        DTM SYS Canvas Coating 412

The 3 dimensional objects were added using a hot glue gun. They include an old watch face, Tim Holtz’s clock face and clock parts, part of an old ruler, vintage costume jewelry, pop bottle cap, tiles, flowers and flower sprig, plus a piece of lace from a lace tablecloth. No doubt you probably have items in your junk drawer or garage at home you can use. The bow was glued on last.

                                       STM SYS Canvas Embellish 412

The pop bottle cap was made with a 1” circle punched from a magazine and inserted on top of a dimensional sticky dot placed inside the pop cap first (so the image is not lost at the bottom). It’s topped off with a 1” round epoxy dot. The pop bottle caps come in a variety of colors and are quite addicting once you start making them…(just a word of warning!)

Lastly, insert a small “o” ring screw into the canvas, punch a small hole on the edge of the pop bottle cap adding an “o” ring to it. Attach the pop bottle cap “o” ring to the “o” ring screw giving you a nice3-d effect dangling on your canvas. And there you have it!

                                  DTM SYS Canvas Complete

Here are a few more lovelies that Mary contributed as part of her Design Team submissions .... we can't wait to see what else she comes up with for us over the next several months!
