"Card Crazy"
August and September Card Club Creativity

Wowsa, where has the time gone? Don't know quite how it happened, but we let August and September sneak by without sharing the great cards from those card exchanges. So, fasten your seat belts, and enjoy two months of card inspiration. Ready, Set, Here We Go ...

 August - Just "Fur" You

So you KNOW that fun times are in the mix whenever we can incorporate "Furry Friends".

Like this Sheepish Guy - cute how Jacque incorporated a late birthday wishes theme in this card!

SPCC Aug Shy Pup

Here's a card featuring a Great Impressions border stamp with a kitty
and a couple of furry puppy dog friends.
The Dog Bone Tag is stamped "Just For You" and the ribbon
has cute little paw prints add just the purrfect touch!

SPCC Aug GIM Border

How about this cute litter stinker .....

SPCC Aug Skunk

Here's another cute card, this one featuring man's best friend alongside a fire hydrant.
The designs were cut with the Silhouette Cameo machine.

SPCC Aug Dog and Hydrant

These were just a few of the fun, furry cards from the August card exchange.
You can see all the cards from the August swap at the store.

For September's exchange, the theme was
"Oh, The Places We Go"

and was a great opportunity for participants to interpret the theme
in whatever direction their imagination took them!

This card evokes some nostalgia as it steps us back in time.

 SPCC Sept Nostalgia

Or how about this card, titled "Enjoy the Journey"

SPCC Sept Enjoy the Journey

A stamped collage card was another of the cards in our September exchange

SPCC Sept Collage

And as we mentioned, creativity in the interpretation of the theme
always makes for fun surprises .....

like this embroidered outhouse card!!!

"Winter Wonderland"
July Featured Card Showcase

Our July card exchange "Winter Wonderland" was the perfect reprieve from the HOT, HOT summer days we have had this summer. And, in some cases, it has been a great way to get a jumpstart on holiday card making ideas!

Here are a few of the cards that were created for this card exchange -

This card, from Michelle features the Memory Box Fredward Bear die and matching stamp and a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Glitter and Liquid Pearls added a spendid touch to her "Beary Sweet" Card.

SPCC Winter Wonderland Beary Sweet

Glitter, did we mention glitter?! Kathleen's card is a mecca of glitter glam. She die cut the Cheery Lynn candles out of black vinyl, glittered them up, and then colored the glitter with her Copic markers. WOW!!! Bazzill Bling paper was just the perfect accent for her card presentation!

SPCC Winter Wonderland Candles

Another of the crafty card creations is this card from Marianne. There was definitely a "bling thing" going on with the "Winter Wonderland" card exchange ..... Marianne also used Bazzill Bling paper. She cut her card design with her Silhouette Cameo machine - love the die cut card edge, don't you?! Add some patterened paper, a stamped "Let it Snow" message and some Crystal Ice stickles and there you have it!

SPCC Winter Wonderland Marianne

"Thinking of You" or "In Memory Of" - May Featured Card Showcase

Our card exchange for May is one that was requested by card club participants when we did a shout out for theme requests for this year. "Thinking of You" and "In Memory Of" card ideas are always sought after as they can be more challenging to create when we need them. Thanks to all the May participants!

This month's featured card is designed by a familiar face in our card exchanges, Kathleen, who often creates TWO different sets of cards for the exchanges, as she did for the May exchange also. Here is one of the two cards she created for the exchange.

SPCC May12

Kathleen combine the classic Memory Box Orchard Frame die with the elegant touch of Pearls painted on the tree branches and a stamped sentiment that says it all in this "In Memory Of" card. Some of the other cards contributed in this exchange were "Thinking of You" cards as well as some "In Memory Of" cards. They are all on display at the store for your viewing pleasure!

The background is inked and blended. One way to achieve this look is to use 'direct to paper' with various dye inks and then use a blending tool with foam and blend the colors together. Add more colors to get the look you want. Try this technique on different papers, too - glossy, regular cardstock, patterned paper, etc.

Our card exchange for June is "Hooray for the Red, White and Blue." It will be so fun to see how the June participants each interpret the theme in their card creations!

Have YOU ever participated in one of our monthly card exchanges? It's a great way to share your ideas with others, sometime be challenged to think "outside the box" and also to receive lots of card ideas from others! You create 10 cards of the same design, with 10 recipes (one for EACH card).

Drop Off 3rd Saturday: June 16

Cards need to be dropped off by the close of business - 6pm. Please don't be late - we simply cannot accept late cards - thank you for your consideration!

The fun of each card exchange is we don't know what you're going to do - we can't wait!

"Memory Box" - March Featured Card Showcase

SPCC MBO Monkey Mar12

Hello, Memory Box afectionados - no "Monkeying Around" here - what a wonderfully inspiring card exchange this was! So much so that it seems "impossible" to pick just one card to showcase. So, we are going to show you several cards here. The "Hang in There" card shown above was created by Jeannette (Cathy's ever-so-talented mom). Flower Soft, divine twine, brads and starform monkey eyes all add to the cuteness of this card.

We have also posted some different cards from this card exchange on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/#!/simplestampnscrap

Naturally, you are welcome to stop in the store to be awed by ALL the cards from the March Memory Box card exchange! Want to see some more Memory Box goodnes - here we go .....

  How about these springtime cards?!

Angeline wrapped the elegant, Elizabeth Craft glittered egg with sheer ribbon.

SPCC MBO Easter Egg Mar12

Evie used our exclusive Memory Box hummingbird to hold an umbrella.
She used a flocked acetate overlay on the umbrella for a truly stylin' statement!

 SPCC MBO Umbrella Mar12

The attention to detail in all the cards created for this exchange was amazing!

The wedding card shown here is elegant with the combination of soiree papers embossed and die cut, not to mention the detailed label, ribbon and pearls. But wait, there is more "special-ness" when this stunning card is opened. This card is also a wedding gift card holder - WOW! You can look forward to seeing more of Jacque's creativity over the coming year, as Jacque is one of Design Team contributors.

Way to go, Jacque!

SPCC MBO Wedding GC Holder Mar12

And who isn't fan of hearts and birds - Deb used Spanish moss and ribbon to accentuate this special card.

SPCC Heart Bird Nest Mar12

SPCC MBO Orchid Print Mar12

Flowers are always a favorite, too. Like the Orchid Print stamp and matching die that Carol used.
Check it out --- Carol even used the Simple Pleasures message stamp that Dave from Memory Box made exclusively for us!!!  You must stop in to study the effect that the use of the fabric-textured paper adds to her stamped and die cut floral image. Not to mention the "pop" that the Stickles and Spica pens add!

Wonderful ---- aren't they?

Our next theme, for April,  is “Flowers'r Fun!” Springtime inspired, for sure.
So many possibilities ..... hummmm!

"Monochromatic Magic" - February Featured Card Showcase

Our last Simple Pleasures’ Card Club Exchange was themed “Monochromatic Magic” and participants decided for themselves what theme they would design their cards around -  using a monochromatic color scheme.

Here is the Featured Card for February's Monochromatic Card Swap by Jo B -it is stunning!

SPCC Feb2012

Although this card is a Sympathy Card, it could easily be adapted to be a wedding or anniversary card. Opalessence Matallic and Parchment papers from the Papr Company and The Paper Studio work well to create a classic elegance in this card. A Sahara Sand stamp pad was used to stamp the sentiments.

How about this intricately detailed butterfly border running  along the left side of the card? It was created with the Card Fronts Cartridge and the eclips cutting system.

SPCC 212 Monochromatic Card Fronts Cartridge
